Eddie & Monique Metcalf
Farewell Tribute to Bro.Eddie and Monique Metcalf

Thanks to you all for coming along to Eddie and Monique's Farewell, as they are relocating to England at the end of this month.
Bro. Eddie has been a Freemason for 40 years. He started his Masonic career in Kenya in Lodge Scotia No. 1008 SC on 13 February 1968. He then came down to Natal and joined Lodge Centenary No. 1328 SC on 5 February 1976. Eddie was a fantastic and loyal member of our Lodge, going into the Chair as my Successor in 1978/79.
While looking through my records I came across a ticket for a Grand Masonic Ball, held in the Civic Centre Pinetown in 1978. Catering was provided by the Royal Hotel, Durban and the cost of a double ticket was R15-00. Times have changed!!
Eddie did everything in the Lodge from organizing raffles, bringing along prizes, doing the books for the Auditors, organizing boerewors rolls outside Knowles on a Saturday morning, where he was Secretary of the Group. He was also the Almoner of the Lodge, which he did with such enthusiasm, visiting the sick. I remember, when I was in hospital in 1988, he was always at my bed visiting me.
Eddie was also very involved with Royal Arch and took Centenary Royal Arch under his wing. He continued keeping it going through the tough years, and finally arrived as the Grand Superintendent for KZN Royal Arch Chapters.
He is a life member of both Centenary Craft and Centenary Royal Arch Chapters, he is also a Past District Grand Director of Ceremonies, Honorary District Grand Senior Warden and Honorary Grand Sword Bearer of Scotland.

We will miss you Eddie. I know I speak on behalf of all the Brethren of Lodge Centenary and your Friends who have come along tonight when I " Bid you farewell and to wish you and Monique good health and happiness in Surrey".

Bro. Doug Thomson Dir.Ceromonies. ( DGM.Sub;HJG Dec.;DSM )
